Riverside Arts Market

Apr 04 2009

Today we checked out the grand opening of the Jacksonville Riverside Arts Market, a huge outdoor market featuring over 150 vendors. Underneath the Fuller Warren Bridge, next to the river, it was the perfect way to enjoy a gorgeous spring day. I love basking in localĀ events like this, and am thrilled Jacksonville is starting such a bustling community market.

We picked up some organic produce, handmade soap and herbal tea, and enjoyed belly dancers, drum circles and an escape artist. I’m definitely coming back next week.

  1. It was great, wasn’t it?!?! You can’t beat fresh produce and belly dancers to break up the normal routine. It is long overdue… I’m glad to see something like this here, and I’m also thrilled that so many people showed up. It demonstrates just how much we needed something like this here.

  2. I know! It gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling to see the community all gathering together. I’ve been really wanting a little farmer’s market nearby to pick up local produce…and I got it, and more!

  3. This sounds wonderful. It’s good to see these little events popping up everywhere. I think people are starting to see the benefits of handmade and who wouldn’t love the entertainment. The Atlanta area has really exploded with these events. I’m confident that you will love the handmade soap and will be hooked, that is, if you’ve not tried it before!

  4. Ken: Yes, the soap was lovely! And, I see you make your own yummy-looking handmade soap as well! Are you local to Jacksonville?

  5. No, we live in the suburbs of Atlanta.

  6. Looks great!!! I couldn’t go yesterday but I am going next week!!! Finally we have something cool in town.

  7. Hsinyi: You’ll love it! Next time you go, gimme a call. We can hook up!
